Ball

1. A spherical or almost spherical body. A huge ball of flame rose when the gas ignited.
2. Any of various rounded, movable objects used in various athletic activities and games. The college sport's program requires many different balls.
3. Such an object moving, thrown, hit, or kicked in a particular manner. It is a home run if you hit a fair ball over the fence.
4. A formal gathering for social dancing. The college allowed the students to stage a formal ball after graduation.
5. Slang. An extremely enjoyable time or experience. We had a ball during our vacation trip to the beach.
