Chain

1. A series of (usually metal) rings or links fitted into one another to make a flexible ligament. The barn was locked with a lock and chain.
2. A number of similar establishments (stores or restaurants or banks or hotels or theaters) under one ownership. The KFC has a large chain of fast food restaurants.
3. A necklace made by a stringing objects together. She wore a gold chain around her neck.
4. A range of mountains. The Sierra Nevada chain lies in eastern California.
5. A series of closely linked or connected things. The chain of errors were linked to one man.
