Valve

1. Any of various devices that regulate the flow of gases, liquids, or loose materials through piping or through apertures by opening, closing, or obstructing ports or passageways. That valve will cut off the water going to the house.
2. In nature heart valves control the blood circulation and maintain the correct pumping action. Heart attacks can be caused by the valves not functioning properly.
