1. Any of several Old World evergreen coniferous trees of the genus Cedrus, having stiff needles and large seed cones. Cedar wood comes from several different trees that grow in different parts of the world, and may have different uses.
2. Most common is the incense cedar and the red cedar. Young girls lined their hope chests with incense cedar.
