Exercise in Similarities and Differences -- Page 1

My students enjoy using this list. I do not give the list to the students but give them a single set of the words.
For example let us look at "orange" and "lemon."
We start by asking how they are similar and different then we come up with a list as follows:

Similarities Differences
Both are fruit They are colored differently
Both are citrus One is yellow, the other orange
Both are used for juice They are shaped differently
Both have peels One is round, the other is football shaped
Both are segmented One is sweet, the other sour
Both are grown in similar climates One is eaten, the other is not often eaten
Both have similar growing seasons One can stand a colder temperature
Both have some seeds The juice of one is drunk heavily diluted
