Chinese restaurants have come a long way since our first visit to Beijing in 1984. Then we had to take a waiter from table to table and point at dishes we liked. Today and especially for the Olympics restaurants have organized menus with pictures and even English words.

Breakfast menu, each dish has a 4-digit serial number, the waiters type in the serial numbers of ordered dishes on their WiFi connected PDA, system will send the order to the kitchen accurately. Some big restaurants with over 1000 seats in China run on computers.
