As you can see the growth rate is declining but the actual population is still increasing. This is a serious problem for a country the same size as the united State. the area of China stands at 3.7 million square miles to the United States at 3.6 million square miles. The USA has 29% of its land arable while China has only 11%. And that 11% includes heavily terraced hillsides.
