This man is fertilizing with human "night soil" with his homemade "honey-cart. He cautioned me that I shouldn't take the picture that shows the poorer side of Chinese life. I tried to explain I wanted to show Americans all sides of the hard-working Chinese as they worked to make a stronger China. Note the post he put in the back so the cart could stand while he does his work. China simply cannot afford to waste such valuable nitrogen.
