Our Trip to Qingdao, Shandong On our way up Laoshan Pictured here are Hua and the other Chinese Scientist. We are on our way on the trail up to the top of Mount Lao. Shan is the Chinese word for mountain. It was a pleasant hike up the mountain. We had some food and drinks to accompany us. Many people in China walk up to the top of mountains. It was a pleasant day and people were happy to see us climbing with them. Many people stopped to talk to us and practice their English We are always pleased when people stop us to ask questions. The Chinese people have a great love for The United States regardless of what you hear in the news by the government. On to Next Scene Hi-Res Pic (188K) |

I always remember what Chairman Mao said to President Nixon on his visit to China. He said we are now friends and that won't change, but, from time to time we must say some bad things about you in the press. Just ignore that and you can say some bad things about us, we won't mind.
