Bell Tower, Kunming
Bernice at the Bell Tower Beyond the Golden Temple, in the upper folds of the hills, at the park's true summit (elevation 6,752 feet), sits the Bell Tower. This tree-story tower with its 36 flying eaves, decorated with singing phoenixes, soars to over 90 feet, and it looks old, but they built it in 1984, just before we had arrived. Inside hangs a 10-foot tall, 14-ton bronze bell cast in 1423. The bell once hung in the south gate of the old city walls of Kunming.
