This bill in the era of the late 1990s features Chairman Mao Zedong who
established the People's Republic of China. His lifetime spanned from 1893 to
1976. The blank spot on the opposite side of Mao has a picture of a rose and
the number 50 that can only be seen by holding the bill up to the light. On the
back side you can see a picture of the Portola Palace in Tibet. Fifty Yuan
amounts to about $6.04 US. A partial metal strip runs vertically through the
number 50 on the front for anti-counterfeiting purposes. Check any bill you
receive for these anti-counterfeiting features. They will always check yours.
