This bill in the era of the late 1990s features Chairman Mao Zedong who established the People's Republic of China. His lifetime spanned from 1893 to 1976. The blank spot on the opposite side of Mao has a picture of a flower and the number 5 that can only be seen by holding the bill up to the light. On the back side you can see a picture of a mountain. A partial metal strip runs vertically through the number 5 on the front for anti-counterfeiting purposes. Check any bill you receive for these anti-counterfeiting features.
