27. Computer for Brocade

Long before Hollerwith invented the IBM punch card the Chinese used these wooden cards in a chain to weave silk brocade. This was still in use in 1985 when we visited the factory. Workers had to replace some wood section when they wore out. Fingers finding a hole tell the machine how to fabricate the brocade.
