Forest of Pagodas in the Snow This forest of 227 stone reliquary monuments to memorializes the early Abbots. It covers over 1,000 years of Buddhist funerals, beginning with that of a Tang Dynasty abbot they buried here in the year 746. These are many centuries old. Each pagoda-like structure -- called a stupa -- houses the remains of a Shaolin elder known for his learning, virtue, or proficiency at the martial art of Kungfu. I think you got a higher stupa depending on your importance or maybe your likability. On to Next SceneBack to Last Scene Back to Shaolin Temple Page 2 |
