11. East Lake

East Lake covers an area of 330,000sqm and it is five times bigger than the West Lake in Hangzhou. Characterized by its clear water, abundant plants, and unique gardens, the lake, with over 120 bends in the branch streams and 111.5 kilometers shoreline, was famed as "a lake with 99 curves". The East Lake area can be divided into 6 major thematic scenic areas such as the Listening to the Surging Waves (Ting Tao) scenic area, Millstone-shaped Hill (Mo Shan) scenic area, Diving Wild Goose (Luo Yan) scenic area, White Horse (Bai Ma) scenic area, Luohong scenic area and Playing the Flute (Chui Di) scenic area. Due to abundant rainfall and sunshine as well as a humid climate, East Lake has rich botanical resources. There are 372 kinds of trees and over 390 varieties of flowers in the area of East Lake.
