19. Xiamen McDonalds

Xiamen has a McDonald's in the downtown area. Many of our students work there part-time. They are paid 2 Chinese dollars an hour. That is less than 25 cents US. They get a free half-pounder after they work for four hours. A Big Mac costs 8 Chinese dollars. That is a little less than a dollar US. We go there for a taste of America. We went there for Thanksgiving dinner. We also went there for our wedding anniversary. It is always crowded with few empty tables on both floors.
