11. Construction on One Circle Road

One Circle Road (Yi Wan Lu) is being rebuilt. This road is about 9 miles long circling the entire city. It was very narrow, deeply rutted and very bumpy. The government tears up the entire road and widens the road. Many houses lining the street and businesses are destroyed. Concrete is poured and rice mats laid on the cement to allow it to cure properly. Then men pick up the straw to be used for the next section. A few hundred thousand people are employed to work on the road.
