Wounded Being Flown to Japan 581st Radio Relay Company at Wonson (1950)
16. Wounded Being Flown to Japan

While we were in the Wonson area I could see many planes flying over us. They were all ours. We had total air superiority. The enemy never came near us and you became thankful of that. When a GI was wounded he was flown to Japan to be in a modern hospital. Some were treated at a MASH unit before transport. The Chinese had to be taken hundreds of miles back to China and as a result many Chinese wounded died of their wounds. Here is a plane taking wounded back to Japan.
