581st Sig. Co. on Hill 1157 (1951)

Dead Chinese Soldier on Hill 1157

There had been a tremendous battle before we had arrived on this hill. There were about 20 dead Chinese soldiers lying around at various places on the hill. Most were in pretty bad condition. This one was behind a large boulder. His skull is bare just above right center. His tennis shoes are shown and his ribs showing. One poor devil was evidently shot in a foxhole and was lying with his feet up in the air out of the hole. The foxhole was right on the path. Someone had filled the hole but his path went right between his feet. The bodies were still there when I left. We had to pass them each day.
