The Completed Shack for Our Radios

After the engineers completed the road up to the top, one day a prefab metal shack appeared. It came in the form of lots of bolts, screws, sheets of corrugated tin and a set of plans. It became my job to construct it into our new radio shack. There had been a cave the very top of the hill. We would put our burnable trash in the cave and when it was of sufficient quantity we would burn it. I noticed that it would slightly explode. There seemed to be natural gas flowing out of this natural cave. It was there where I decided to build the new metal shack.

I had to ensure the gas could dissipate and not cause a problem. This is the completed shack. It was so much nicer to be able to stand up and work on the radio equipment. We had a heater and it was warm inside. For safety and protection from airplanes, I had some Korean laborers dig a hole to place it in so we had protection from strafing aircraft. It also got it out of the wind.
