7. Hill 775 Station Camp Layout

This is part of the camp layout at the Radio Relay Station at Hill 775. The tents on the left are 16 by 16 sleeping tents for the men (1). The tent on the right is Lieutenant Guyot's tent (3). He always wanted to pitch it himself. He also booby-trapped his tent. We were not to approach it without calling out to him. If you approached his tent too close a small bomb would go off. He learned that in the Philippines as a guerilla fighting the Japanese. We greatly respected him. He also was very good to us. Generally speaking the team always stayed together but at times we had different officers. Our Mess tent is 2.

Some were very good, some so so, and some were definite pains in the butt. Most of the time we ran our on show since the officers wouldn't know a transmitter from a receiver or how to set up a station. They had their job and we had ours. The radio shack is back in the direction the picture is taken, in fact I believe it was taken from the radio shack.
