581st Signal Company in Germany - 1985

Mr. Noll:

I served as a 2LT/1LT in the 581st Signal Company, 39th Signal Battalion, 2nd Signal Brigade, Sep 1983 to Mar 1985 in Bremerhaven, Then West Germany. The company had eleven HF sites in Northern Germany and the Netherlands which supported nuclear release in Europe. In addition, the company provided communication center support, telephone switch support, and microwave radio support to Carl Schurz Kaserne in Bremerhaven and the 2nd Armored Division (FWD) at Garlstedt. Generally speaking the company continued to perform these duties till the drawdown of US Forces in Germany after DESERT Shield/Storm
