'Jimmy our Houseboy 581st Signal RR Co. at Chosin Reservoir, 1950 - Norm Deptula
10. Jimmy our Mascot, Koto-ri, North Korea

Jimmy was too young to be a houseboy. He was so young that he couldn't stay with the team. We were told he had to be taken to an orphanage. It was a sad day when Jimmy was taken away. He cried and wanted to stay with the guys and the guys didn't want him to go either. He was so small, almost an infant, that there was room on the same cot for two other kids his size. I often wonder what happen to him. We did what we could for as many as we could and still do our jobs.
