Custom Signal Regimental Association Patch

Custom Signal Regimental Association Patch

To : Association Membership

I would like to present to the Signal Regimental Association this gift patch for the benefit of the Association and its membership. I had it produced as a way to say "Thank you" to all the signalers and communicators in the Signal regiment.

I do this for myself and fellow veteran signalers in a group of ol' timers called the "Vagabonds." We served in radio relay and communications as far back as the Korean War. Fate and Paul Noll and his web site (www.paulnoll.com) has brought us together to share history, pictures and many signaler stories of interest and fun. It has really shown us what a small world it is as its turned out that half of us even served on the same small radio relay site in South Korea named "Tacoma Site 10." It is located about 10 miles N.E. of Kunsan Air Base and has been operated by personal in various signal units including the 581Signal Radio Relay Company, 38th Brigade ADA, 8th US Army, STRATCOM LL/BN CoC,and today fellow signalers of the 1st Signal Brigade, 36th Signal BN, 501st Signal Company, NetCom/9th Army Signal Command.

Thank you ALL for giving part of yourself for the good of ALL. We were all "Voices of the Commanders" and We commanded the voices.

The Patch:

  • The eagle is a 4 year-old sub-adult Bold eagle as marked with a small dark band on the tip of the tail feathers. These turn full white with maturity at the age of 5 years old. This is to recognize that the Regimental Association is younger than the regiment itself and that the association will be GROWING and maturing with experience.
  • The Eagles chest faces full forward.
  • The Left Wing partially blocks the word "Vigilans" but it you can still read it, suggesting that of hidden codes and signals operating together.
  • "pro Patria Vigilans" and the Corps Battle Star, are in Signal Orange.
  • The Eagle is perched and ready to "stoop" (dive) into action or stand ground in defense.
