Paul Noll Joins the US Army

Camp Woods, New Jersey

When I arrived in New Jersey, they assigned me to stay for a while a Camp Woods a few miles from Fort Monmouth. There I waited for for school to start. I spent a couple of months just having some light duty and driving over to Asbury Park, on the coast. My light duty consisted of being the fireman. I kept the coal pot-bellied stove burning all night and also firing up the kitchen stoves for the cooks in the morning. Nice in that it allowed me access to the kitchen where I fixed dinner each night just for myself.
