Richmond Relay Station Pic 11 Richmond Relay - 1969-70 11. Osan Air Base and Runway from Bucket Site

The thought did not occur to me when I first arrived at Bucket Site that this assignment may only be temporary. After about 3 months of on the job training working on site I was informed that I was going to be transferred to Richmond Site. It was an isolated radio relay site above the city of Taejon near our company HQ at Stonestown Compound. Richmond was a large main site and one along a series of "Backbone" sites from Pusan to the D.M.Z. in the North.

My friend Jim Hinkle encouraged me by saying I would enjoy the experience and we would be able to talk on-line and visit. So the guys gave me a party and we said our farewells. A driver took me to the small rural train station at Osan-ni and I went off to my next assignment and duty station at Richmond Site.
