Tacoma Site 10 was a VHF and microwave radio relay site located on Hill 745 near the Yellow Sea port of Kunsan Harbor on Korea's west coast. It was about 25mi east of Kunsan Air Base where rations support and mail came from for the site. My mail address was CMR #1248 (consolidated Mail Room) APO SF 96264. Tacoma Site was smaller than Bucket or Richmond Sites and a true relay system with what was called drop and insert capabilities. It did not have a mainframe where all the circuits were connected for switchboard operation. Tacoma Site 10 connected backbone radio systems that carried communications from Seoul to Pusan with the air base and the west coast. It received microwave radio from Richmond Site to the east and relayed signals to Kunsan Site located on the air base to the west. It inserted VHF radio circuits from Air Defense Artillery sites and other installations onto the microwave system. The Armed Forced Korean Network (AFKN) also broadcast radio and TV from the antenna on Tacoma Site 10 but the radio studio was next to the STRATCOM LL/Bn Microwave Site on Kunsan Air Base.
