6. The Chinese Troops March Across the Yalu River into North Korea

10/14/50. The 334th Regiment, 119th Division, of Fifteenth Chinese Field Army crosses the Yalu River into North Korea. The Yalu River is the boundary between China and Korea for most of the border. The Province of Heilongjiang, (Black Dragon River) is on the other side of Korea. Many Koreans live in China. In recent years many Koreans from the People's Democratic of Korea have fled Korea to escape the famine there. So many have done so that the Chinese have pushed efforts to stem the flow of refugees. But people who are starving will find a way. The Chinese have instituted severe penalties to those Chinese Koreans who shelter these people.
