Gray Jay

Perisoreus canadensis - Locally common in northern coniferous woods; becomes tame in lumber camps. Adult is recognized by black and white pattern of head and nape; lacks black and white wing and tail pattern of Clark's Nutcracker. The dusky juvenile is told by its short rounded wings, long rounded tail, and lack of crest. Call is a whistled wheeoo; also many other jay-like sounds.
