Northern Shoveler

Anas clypeata - Abundant in the central and western part of its range; found mainly in shallow water. Identify both sexes by the flat head, long spatulate bill, and large blue wing patch. On the water it rides low in front, bill held downward. Quacks like a Mallard; also a low clucking.
