Oxyura jamaicensis - Common in summer on lakes and ponds with floating vegetation, in winter on estuaries, lakes and rivers. Wings are short and rounded; flight fast, uneven, with rapid wing beats. Identified by white cheeks under the dark cap and by the long up tilted tail. Usually silent. |
