Catoptrophorus semipalmatus - Common; birds breed on lakes. Winter in salt marshes. Best identified in flight by the prominent wing pattern. Standing birds are very plain and plump, with bluish legs and thicker legs than yellowlegs'. Seen in small flocks or pairs. Call, pill-will-willet.
