Carolina Wren Habitat

Carolina Wren Habitat

Say you live in the southeastern United states. You find a nest in an old shoe in your garage or in the fern in the hanging basket on your porch. You have probably found the work of a pair of Carolina Wrens. Other birds may nest close to humans, but in the southeast such nest sites combined with proximity to humans is most characteristic of Carolina Wrens.

This Carolina Wren has chosen a potted begonia as a place to build its nest. Close proximity to humans and unlikely nest sites identify this bird over much of its range.
