Tools We Use to Can or Freeze Grape Juice Steam Canner, Tool 7
This steam canner has many advantages over the old water bath canners. It
eliminates the heavy lifting of a canner full of water. It saves water usage,
especially valuable for us with a well. It uses only 3 pints of water to steam
the quarts or pints. It has the capacity to steam 7 quarts at a time. It
doesn't boil over as water bath canners can. It cuts the preheating time by
50% because you heat less water. Because of this it keeps the kitchen cooler
which helps in the hot summer when canning takes place. Whether you use a steam
canner or water bath you must have a wire grate on the bottom of the container.
