Here we have set up our kitchen table to work on the pears. On the right Paul sits and peels the pears using a cookie tray for the peels. To the right of that he has a cutting board to cut the pear in half. Bernice works over a pan to trim the ends and remove the core. She had a bowl of clear water to rinse her tools in front of her. A bowl of cold water slightly salted sits for her to put the finished halves in. The salt inhibits the pears from turning dark in the air.
