Common Chickweed

Stellaria Media The field chickweed is a widely ranging species which can vary greatly from one area to another. Those found along the coast are usually densely hairy, especially along the upper portion of the plant. Those found at higher mountainous areas are less hairy and tend to have broader leaves than the coastal plants. Chickweed blooms from May through August. A number of these can be found in our shaded woodlot.
