Pacific Dogwood

Trees Growing at Our Pleasant Hill Oregon Home

Pacific Dogwood

Cornus nuttallii Native to western North America. where it may reach a height of 12-18 meters (40-60 feet). Flowers are in a tight head about 2cm (3/4 inch) across surrounded by 4-8 bracts which make this tree a stunning sight in flower. The flower buds are visible all winter, finally opening in May. We have several of these Dogwoods growing wild in our woodlands. Beautiful white flowers in the spring. Some of the others are even taller than this one. When we acquired this place the tree was almost covered by blackberry vines.
