We didn't have a lot of money in those days and Dad would go to the Goodwill store to buy cheap toys that needed fixing. Here is one of those toys, a mechanical excavator that dad rebuilt, repaired the wheels and axles, scraped the rust off and painted. I remember paying a dollar for the rusted hulk. The boys learned that they could fix things too.
