Bernice wonders where her young son has gone and who is this young man who has taken his place. This year the pumpkin just got a paste on face because we are going to cut up the pumpkin to make pumpkin pudding. Dad made the best pumpkin pudding.

Landon replied that he was never fond of carving a pumpkin and letting it sit around until it molded and smelled. He said Mom had the idea of using paper on the pumpkin so she could decorate it early and then keep it around. Landon liked the idea of a non-molding pumpkin and asked it to stay that way.
