Cook's Chasm, Oregon Coast Spouts

Cook's Chasm, Oregon Coast

3. Cook's Chasm, Spouts Wayside

Just a short distance south of the Devil's Churn is another fissure in the rock that the incoming tide rushing in makes a spectacular sight. You can view it from the top. When the tide is just right an incoming wave rushes into underwater caverns and then compresses the air so there is a blowhole spouting water and vapor into the air. There is a parking spot so you can view it easily. A sign will let you know when you are there. There is a path to the bottom a few feet to the north. You can also walk out on the bridge to see more. Just across the street is the road to the Heceta Head Interpretive Center. The spout blowholes are just across the chasm.
