Mountain Arnica (Broad-Leaved Arnica)

Arnica Latifolia - Common all summer, perennial, 1-2 ft. Erect. Stems unbranched, either solitary or with a few in a cluster. Leaves round to lance-shaped, toothed; basal leaves on long stalks, 2-4 pairs sessile along stem, middle pair often larger than those below. Inflorescence consists of 1-5 flower stalks at stem top, each holding 1 or few flower heads. Flower heads have 8-13 ray flowers, 1/2-1 in. long, surrounding a slightly hairy central disk. Grows in moist woods, meadows, along mountain streams. mostly at lower elevations but can be found in high mountains, Native.
