Thick-stem Aster (Entire Leaf Aster, Sticky Aster)

Aster integrifolius - Common, midsummer, perennial, 8-28 in. Erect stems in clusters, sticky glands on top section. Basal and lower stem leaves green through flowering, 2-9 in. long, entire, egg-shaped, with short petioles; upper stem leaves smaller, lance-shaped, sessile to clasping. Flower clusters atop stems. Flower cup glandular, green, bract tips tinted purple, 10-20 ray flowers lavender to purple surrounding yellow to purplish disk. Grows in dry meadows at high elevations.
