Ground Ivy (Gill over-the-ground, Creeping Charlie)

Glecoma hederaca - Locally common, all spring, perennial, 1-6 in. Prostrate to decumbent, with upright stalks. Stems creeping, rooting at nodes, stalks square, with 4 sharp edges, somewhat hairy. Leaves with short petioles or sessile, hairy, nearly round, with coarse round teeth. Flowers lavender, on short stalks, in clusters at upper leaf axils. Flowers in 5-lobed calyx; pouch near base of funnel-shaped tube flared to 2 lips; upper lip divided into 2 shorter lobes, lower into 3 unequal longer lobes, darker spots near center. Grows in moist shaded places in disturbed soils at low elevations, Nonnative.
