Jelly Babies (Ochre Jelly Club)

Leotia lubrica Gelatinous, ochre-yellow, stalked club with convoluted head. Head: 3/8-1 5/8" (1-4 cm) wide and high; smooth or furrowed, convex and more or less convoluted; margin inrolled; buff, ochre, or cinnamon, at times tinged with olive. Stalk: 3/4-2" (2-5 cm) long, 1/4-3/8" (0.5-1 cm) thick; pale buff to yellow, minutely scaly. Spores: 20-25 x 5-6 u; slightly spindle-shaped with rounded ends, often slightly curved, becoming 6- to 8-celled. Season - July-October. Habitat - Several to abundant, on soil or litter in coniferous, mixed, or scrub oak woods. Range - Throughout North America.
