Small-flat Moss

Pseudotaxiphyllum elegans - Plants small, pale green to yellow-green, delicate, glossy, forming mats; stems to 3.5 cm long. creeping, strongly flattened, not much branched; branches small, brittle, deciduous, growing forwards the tips of stems. Leaves 0.5-2.0 mm long, flattened with the tips pointed downwards when dry, lance-shaped, sharp-pointed, somewhat asymmetric; edges with small teeth; midrib very short and double; upper cells elongate; alar cells not clearly defined. Found on soil banks, tree bases, forest humus and rotten logs from sea level to subalpine.
