Common Toadflax (Butter and Eggs)

Linaria vulgaris - Common, midspring, perennial, 12-35 in. Stems erect, branched or unbranched, solitary or small clumps. Leaves linear, green to gray-green, opposite, crowded along stem, sessile. Flowers in dense cluster, more or less glandular atop stems. Flower yellow with orange hairy beard on lower lip, straight spur pointing downward. Grows in damp areas along roads and other disturbed places at low elevations where it is a noxious weed. Nonnative.
