Narrowleaf Wyethia

Wyethia augustifolia Common, late spring-early summer,perennial, 18-24 in. Slump of leaves, erect flower-bearing stems. Basal leaves lance-shaped, 4-20 in. long,tapering to point, lightly coated with rough hairs; stem leaves few, much smaller. Flower head, deep yellow sunflower-like, usually 1 per stem. Bracts 20-30, soft-haired, about 1 in. long, toothed, forming cup containing 8-21 rays, each 1/2 - 1 3/4 in. long, and large central disk. Grows in grasslands below 6500 ft. Native.
