3. Possessive Forms of Personal Pronouns

Use my, your, his, her, its, our, or their:
When the possessive pronoun immediately precedes the noun it modifies.
    That is my book. It was their choice. Mary was her friend.
Use mine, yours, his, hers, its, or theirs:
When the possessive pronoun stands apart from the noun it refers to:
    That book is mine. The choice is theirs. Mary is a friend of hers.

4. Compound Personal Pronouns

The self or selves ending pronouns (myself, yourself, himself, herself, itself, ourselves, yourselves, and themselves) should be used:

a. To direct the action expressed by the verb back to the subject.
    She found herself the only one there.
b. To emphasize a noun or pronoun already expressed.
    She herself wrote it. I myself am confused.
