A few words drop their final e when adding -able. Fortunately, there aren't many of these! There are many more examples of the retention of the final e. Some exceptions to the rules:

  2. desirable
  3. valuable
  1. debatable
  2. changeable
  3. noticeable
  1. loveable
  2. sizeable
  1. contemptible
  2. digestible
  3. flexible
  1. responsible
  2. irritable
  3. inevitable
  1. formidable
  2. accessible
More Exceptions:
Only -able follows g, i, and the hard k sound. The suffix -ible is commonly used after double consonants like ll, rr, and some d sounds and the soft c sounds.
