23. Repairing Quilts

This young man has a mobile business of renewing quilts. He comes to a unit such as ours. The Chengdu Branch of the National Academy of Sciences and yells out what his business is. People come out with their old matted cotton batting quilts. He removes the cover and proceeds to use the homemade tool you see. The long arm is balanced and has sharp nails on the right end. He pounds the arm with his mallet and it springs back after fluffing the cotton matting. After it is fluffed to his satisfaction he turns it over to his partner in the next thumbnail. He had lots of business and was at our unit for about a week.
